This festival is marked as the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <em>Hijrah<\/em> calendar, Hari Raya Puasa falls on the first day of the 10th month of <em>Syawal<\/em>. The <em>Hijrah<\/em> calendar is a lunar calendar and therefore the dates on which Hari Raya Puasa falls varies each year. This year in Malaysia that day is Friday 17<sup>th<\/sup> July 2015.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4245 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/188.166.217.78\/eztakaful\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kids-BM.jpg\" alt=\"Kids-BM\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/testing.ezinsurance.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kids-BM.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/testing.ezinsurance.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kids-BM-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/testing.ezinsurance.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kids-BM-768x402.jpg 768w, https:\/\/testing.ezinsurance.com.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Kids-BM-1024x536.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warm and Meaningful Moments with Your Loved Ones on Hari Raya Puasa<!--more--><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The day, greeted with great joy, symbolises purification and renewal and signifies a victory of self-restraint.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Many Muslims attend communal prayers and listen to a <em>khutba<\/em> or sermon on the first day of the month of <em>Syawal<\/em>. These prayers are held outside or in large venues, such as sports arenas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If a Muslim has not given <em>Zakat al-fitr<\/em> during Ramadan, he or she can give this on Eid-al-Fitr. <em>Zakat al-fitr<\/em> is a form of charity consisting of a quantity of food, such as barley, dates, raisins or wheat flour, or its monetary equivalent given to the poor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Many Muslims may also prepare festive meals to share, wear new clothes, visit relatives and give duit raya to children. Cards can also be sent, often featuring the words \u201c<em>Eid Mubarak<\/em>\u201d (blessed Eid).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Oil lamps at homes and mosques are lit from the 20th day of Ramadan and continue to shine bright until the end of the festival. In the past, homes were lit with <em>lampu colok<\/em>, a small kerosene lamp that was usually homemade.
